Happiness

As a young bud
Unenlightened to goals & achievement
Immune from hatred & greed
I could reap joy
In whatever little
Life offered to me

As time goes by
The ignorant becomes wordly-wise
The wise pursue happiness
In success & glory
In matter & material
In senses & ego

Happiness becomes a zero sum game
Earn it or snatch it
It transforms into an object
Score it or loose it

Can a indoctrinated mind
Chasing success
Overburdened by desires
Exhausted to worries
Create joyful memories

Sometimes I feel
Ignorance was better than wisdom
For Happiness afore
was unconditional
Neither comparative nor relative
It lied in the most insignificant
Simple and little things

It is time to stop
Look back  & re-think
What happiness is

Happiness is a feeling
of eternal bliss
Satisfaction
And peace of mind
It gushes from inside
Spreading a positive aura outside

Happiness breeds & prosper
When the mind is contended
Heart is pure
And soul is free

It is then
The egoist becomes humble
The greedy becomes kind
And hatred turns into love

Let humans become more humane
Let happiness become a way of life
Let us together
Grow and prosper
Bringing smile to each other’s face
